MedCab Co-op

The Problem:

Neighbors who are going through difficult times due to the current landscape, having difficulty finding, and procuring the medicines they need.

The Goal:

Creating an app that can link users to local medicine shelves that are funded and stocked by the communities in which they serve.

Initial Pain Points:

In coming up with the ideas for this project, I researched information concerning unemployment research data, the cost of medicines, the needs of the community in my area, and the want for neighbors wanting to contribute to the issue. Another major factor, was also the lack of information in regards to local areas that allow users to find or donate medicine to their communities

Performing a competitive audit of mostly indirect competitors and the use of multiple ideation exercises such as crazy eights. I was able to come up with the initial design and create wireframes.

Usability Study Results and insights:

Throughout both usability studies I found that most users wanted a login screen to keep track of their information for future pick ups or donations. Secondly users also wanted clearer navigational icons in addition to adding QR code confirmations for pick ups and donations. Finally, adding additional languages for wider accessibility.

These requests and features were added to the final Hi-Fi prototypes. You will find the final them below.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion:

The impact for this app would be beneficial to communities that may be struggling to get normal medicines, while empowering neighbors to aid their own.

“I like the idea of implementing a co-op like system to necessities like medicine.” - Jessie A.

I learned a lot about how underserved some communities are when it comes to attaining simple over the counter medicines. I also learned how to carry a vision across multiple screens and distinguishing the differences between apps and responsive web design. Finally, the biggest takeaway I learned from this project, is the time management involved in creating a project on this type of scale over the course of a tight schedule.
